A comprehensive 5 day course offering an opportunity to gain experience and knowledge of various techniques and modern equipment.
The course is open to experienced climbers holding CS39 minimum and experienced ground workers holding CS30 minimum.
Day 1- Indoor sessions discussing:
Legislation
Planning and managing rigging operations
Equipment
System design and lowering techniques
Rigging knots
Estimating weight of sections
Four days of practical instruction, dismantling a large open crown beech.
Lowering branch and stem sections
Use of mechanical advantage and capstan winches
Lightweight and vertical speedline
Load transfer systems
Organisation of site and communication
The course will prepare climbers for CS41 and ground workers for CS45 NPTC assessments. For climbers already holding CS41, the course is an opportunity to update and refresh knowledge and skills.
